Educational Intervention Using a Mobile App to Enhance Sports Nutrition Knowledge and Dietary Habits in Student-Athletes: A Randomized Controlled Trial

This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of a mobile application intervention in enhancing Sports nutrition knowledge and improving dietary habits among university student-athletes. A total of 100 participants were randomly assigned to an experimental group (n = 50), which used the "MyFitnessPal" mobile application for nutrition education, and a control group (n = 50) that received traditional lecture-based instruction.Over a three-month period, both groups completed pre-and post-intervention questionnaires assessing sports nutrition knowledge and dietary habits.Results showed that the experimental group experienced significantly greater improvements in both knowledge and DH compared to the control group (P < 0.05). These findings suggest that mobile applications like "MyFitnessPal" are more effective in enhancing nutritional awareness and promot ing healthier dietary behaviors than conventional methods.In conclusion, mobile application-based EI can significantly improve sports nutrition knowledge and dietary practices among university athletes, potentially leading to better athletic performance and overall health. Future studies should investigate the long-term effects of such interventions across broader athletic populations.
