Objective: To study the effectiveness of teachers' standardized patient (TSP) education model in surgical nursing practice training. Methods: The teaching situation of 120 nursing students (class 2022) was retrospectively analyzed, and they were randomly divided into control group and observation group according to different teaching methods, The control group (60 cases) was given the normal teaching mode for one semester, and the observation group (60 cases) was added with TSP education mode on the basis of the control group for one semester. After teaching, written test scores, autonomous learning ability, communication ability, critical thinking ability, internship effect recognition, teaching satisfaction, and cost-benefit indicators were evaluated. Results After intervention, the written test scores of observation group were significantly higher than those of control group (P < 0.05); The total satisfaction of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group (P < 0.05). The total approval rate in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group (P < 0.05). The scores of learning motivation and learning strategy in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P < 0.05). The scores of each dimension of critical thinking ability in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P < 0.05). The comprehensive communication ability score of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group (P < 0.05). Cost-benefit analysis revealed that while the TSP model required higher direct costs (P < 0.001), it demonstrated superior return on educational investment (P < 0.001) and reduced time to clinical competency by 32.4% (P < 0.001). Conclusion: The teacher standardized patient (TSP) education model has significant effect in surgical nursing practice training, which can stimulate students' autonomous learning ability, exercise their ability to judge thinking, and improve the teaching results and satisfaction, and is worthy of promotion.
