Abstract

Myelolipoma is a benign tumor composed of mature adipose tissue and 3 hematopoietic elements, typically found in the bone marrow. It mainly occurs in the 4 adrenal gland, with only over 50 cases of extrarenal myelolipoma reported in 5 literature, and extrarenal renal myelolipoma occurring in the posterior abdominal 6 cavity is particularly rare. Currently, there are only 6 reported cases abroad. We report 7 a case of extrarenal retroperitoneal medullary lipoma treated after abdominal pain, 8 which was misdiagnosed as well differentiated retroperitoneal liposarcoma before 9 surgery. The patient was successfully discharged after surgical resection. This paper 10 provides a detailed summary of the clinical presentation, imaging features, diagnosis, 11 and management course of this case, aiming to offer diagnostic and therapeutic 12 insights for clinicians and future research.
