Financial awareness and business development cognition positively influence sustainable development of rural family businesses

Family businesses are the main form of economic organization in the world. In most countries, family businesses accounted for 70% to 90% of annual global gross domestic product (GDP) and 50% to 80% of all jobs. In rural areas of China, the family farms of cultivation are up to 4 million, as of October 2023. Family businesses exhibited unique characteristics with non-family businesses, and more research is needed on how to promote their sustainable development. By Investigating 507 family business operators of rural cultivation, the study explored the role of family business operators' business development cognition and financial awareness in sustainable development. Research results implicated that the business development cognition and financial awareness of family business operators positively influenced the sustainable development of family businesses. In this process, the abilities of family business operators to run businesses played a moderating role.According to research results, many implications are proved for family business operators.
