Background

Thyroid surgery is an ever-growing field with novel developments in the past 2 decades. With the growing interest to pursue minimally invasive surgery in every surgical field, thyroid surgeons have gradually refined their techniques in both endoscopic and robotic thyroid surgery seeking to improve patient outcomes and push the boundaries of what is operatively possible using minimally invasive techniques.

The goal of this research topic is to bring together and present the latest literature and foster collaboration between thyroid surgeons who are interested in minimally invasive thyroid surgery to share their techniques and outcomes to further improve this field. We want to hear from surgeons and clinicians on how they do it and overcome the challenges of this novel and interesting field.

We welcome various types of articles including original research articles, reviews, and methods articles. We encourage submissions on the following themes:

- Outcomes of minimally invasive thyroid surgery (including both endoscopic and robotic thyroid surgery)
- How-I-do-it technical recommendations for surgeons interested in exploring this technique to improve patient care delivery
- Role of novel new technologies that can assist minimally invasive thyroid surgery - nerve monitoring, parathyroid identification technologies, etc.
- What the future holds for minimally invasive thyroid surgery - how far can we go?
