Background

Many applications apply hydraulic actuation as a means of transferring mechanical power to different types of loads. In fact, hydraulic systems are present in many types of mobile and stationary machinery such as excavators and industrial robotic arms. In every application, energy efficiency is an important issue.

We intend to gather in this topic, new and potential system designs aimed at making efficient use of hydraulic energy. Load energy recovery and reutilization are also in view. To this end, this collection is open not only to new system solutions but also to theoretical approaches and components’ design.

This research topic covers (though it is not limited to) the following subtopics:

-Energy regeneration in hydraulic systems
-Efficient hydraulic circuits for valve and pump-controlled actuators
-New pump and motor designs
-Efficient hydrostatic transmissions and actuators
-Digital hydraulics
