Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) is a complex mental health condition characterized by an inflated self-image, grandiose tendencies, and a necessity for external admiration. Furthermore, individuals with NPD commonly exhibit a notable lack of empathy, struggling to empathize with the emotions and experiences of others. This constellation of traits poses unique challenges in clinical settings, notably due to these individuals’ resistance to conventional treatment methods. As such, NPD demands innovative therapeutic strategies that can effectively address its multifaceted nature and improve patient outcomes in psychiatric practice.
This Research Topic aims to explore and evaluate novel interventions and treatment frameworks for NPD, focusing on their effectiveness and practical application in clinical settings. The goal is to enrich the pool of therapeutic options available for managing NPD, thus enhancing patient care and treatment success. Emphasis will be given to pioneering approaches and technologies that promise to reshape the landscape of NPD treatment.
To gather further insights in innovative NPD treatments, we welcome articles addressing, but not limited to, the following themes: • Evaluation of mindfulness-based and schema-focused therapies in the context of NPD. • Assessment of the efficacy and limitations of technology-assisted treatments. • Analysis of case studies or clinical trials investigating new interventions. • Exploration of the mechanisms underlying successful NPD treatment outcomes. • Discussion of ethical issues and challenges in implementing novel therapeutic strategies.
Additionally, we are open to a variety of article formats as outlined in the Frontiers in Psychiatry submission guidelines, including Original Research articles, Reviews, Method articles, Clinical Trials, and Case Reports.
