Background

The research on chronic lung disorders is experiencing a pivotal shift, bolstered by breakthroughs in molecular biology, genetics, and therapeutic technology. Despite ongoing efforts, chronic lung conditions such as COPD, asthma, pulmonary fibrosis, lung cancer, and emergent threats like COVID-19 continue to pose significant health challenges globally. These diseases collectively account for over 7 million deaths each year, underscoring a critical need for novel, effective interventions. Establishing new therapeutic targets and leveraging contemporary approaches are crucial in bridging the gap between experimental science and effective treatments.

This Research Topic aims to illuminate the synthesis of fundamental research and clinical practice to forge new pathways in treating chronic lung disorders. Paramount to this endeavor is the exploration and validation of precision medicine, biomarkers, immunomodulation therapies, RNA mechanisms, natural product applications, artificial intelligence insights, microbiome interactions, and regenerative techniques. By integrating these diverse disciplines, the proposed special issue seeks to elucidate novel interventional strategies that can fundamentally alter the treatment paradigms of lung diseases.

In pursuit of comprehensive and innovative insights, the scope of this issue is deliberately broad yet focuses on several key areas of interest to foster a multidisciplinary discourse. We seek contributions that:

• Elaborate on precision medicine approaches and biomarker discovery in lung disease management.
• Investigate the efficacy of immunomodulatory and targeted therapeutic strategies.
• Present advancements in RNA-based therapies aiming to enhance immune responses.
• Explore the potential of natural products in lung disorder therapies.
• Examine the roles of AI and big data in predicting and managing lung diseases.
• Discuss interactions between the lung-gut microbiome and respiratory health.
• Assess developments in regenerative medicine relevant to respiratory conditions.
• Consider the effectiveness of combination therapies in clinical trials. Such submissions should not only contribute to the current understanding but also propel forward the application of these emerging fields to improve outcomes for individuals with chronic lung disorders.

Types of articles that can be considered for publication within this Research Topic include Research articles, Review articles, and Detailed Case studies.
