Read MoreThe Additive Process section of Frontiers in Manufacturing Technology publishes high-quality fundamental and applied research across all aspects of additive manufacturing technology, which is evolving and advancing rapidly. Various aspects of additive manufacturing technology, namely design, material, process, inspection and post-processing, are becoming highly coupled. The Additive Process section covers a wide scope of topics in additive manufacturing technology from a unique angle: the interdisciplinarity of the research. There has been a great need to have a publication venue for the highly interdisciplinary research in additive manufacturing technology. This section creates a fast-publication channel which provides a unique outlet for designers, material scientists and engineers, computer scientists, software engineers, manufacturing and application practitioners in academia and any industry where additive manufacturing technology is investigated, developed and applied. Areas covered by this section include, but are not limited to:
· Design theories, methods, case studies, applications of additive manufacturing technology./span>
· New material development, material characterization and testing experiments.
· Inspection methods, post-processing methods, measurement techniques for components and parts fabricated through additive processes.
· Computational and numerical methods in the simulation and optimization of design, additive processes planning, defect detection, and process monitoring.
· Artificial intelligence and machine learning in additive processes.
· Application of additive processes in medical, bioengineering, tissue engineering, aerospace engineering, automotive engineering, and other engineering fields.
· Sustainability of additive process in energy and material conservation, and in supporting eco-design.
· Novel additive process developmentn.
· Expert systems and computer graphics application in the support of knowledge management and design of complex geometry for additive manufacturing.
All application-oriented manuscripts such as design case studies and material characterization and testing must provide comprehensive data. Research dealing purely on biology and tissue engineering do not fall within the scope of this section and should be submitted to more specialized journals.
