The spatial layout of martial arts halls is integral to the transmission and promotion of Chinese wushu culture. As key sites for preserving martial arts traditions, these halls embody cultural continuity and safeguard intangible heritage. Utilizing spatial geography tools, this study examines the distribution and structural characteristics of 5,805 martial arts halls across China as of March 2025. Regression models identify critical factors influencing spatial distribution. Results indicate: (1) significant regional disparities, with a concentration in eastern provinces and sparse distribution in the west; (2) An agglomerated structure characterized as "Four Core– Ring–Core Group–Double Belt"; (3) influencing factors such as population size, martial arts culture, policy support, and education level positively impact halls distribution, while competition from the cultural and recreational industries poses challenges, and economic factors exert a dual influence. Based on these findings, countermeasures are proposed from both governmental and institutional perspectives to optimize martial arts halls development and promote sustainable transmission of Chinese wushu culture.
