About this Research Topic
This Research Topic is closed for submissions.
Background
This Research Topic is satellite to the Research Topic 'Proceedings of the 3rd International Conference on Oral Mucosal Immunity and Microbiome' , dedicated to addressing specifically the interplay between the microbiome and the immune system in the establishment and progression of periodontal diseases.
This Research Topic hosts original research papers as well as reviews focusing on local mechanisms of the pathogenesis of periodontal diseases, including novel aspects of microbial pathogenesis and host immunomodulation. Aspects of microbial ecology and dysbiosis in periodontal diseases are also covered. Translational work that embraces microbiological or immunological factors that mediate the link between systemic health and periodontal diseases is welcome.
Important note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
