Background

The process of global industrialization relies heavily on mining, which plays a pivotal role; however, it also gives rise to significant ecological and environmental challenges. With the large-scale development of mining industry, the problem of ecological environmental pollution in mining areas has become increasingly prominent. In mineral processing, the production of large amounts of wastewater is a key problem. Untreated wastewater can pollute surrounding rivers, lakes and groundwater, affect the survival of aquatic organisms, and pose a threat to human health through the food chain. The accumulation of waste residue cannot be ignored: in the long-term weathering and rain leaching, the harmful substances in the waste residue will penetrate into the soil and groundwater, causing soil pollution and groundwater pollution. Faced with these severe environmental problems, the mining areas ecological environmental pollution control technology came into being.

This research topic aims to cover all aspects of ecological environmental pollution in mining areas, including air pollution, water pollution, soil pollution and ecological damage. In-depth analysis of the causes of these problems, the extent of harm and the current challenges. Find innovative technologies and methods for ecological environmental pollution control in mining areas, including but not limited to harmful gas treatment technology, mine water treatment technology, residue recovery technology, mineral processing wastewater treatment technology, soil pollution remediation technology and ecological restoration technology. The objective is to facilitate industrial upgrading in mining regions, promote the implementation of advanced ecological environmental pollution control technologies, enhance the level of environmental governance within mining areas, optimize resource utilization efficiency, minimize pollutant emissions, and achieve environmentally friendly upgrades and sustainable development in mining regions.

The reaction mechanism and process conditions of catalytic oxidation of harmful gases by biological enzymes were studied to provide a new green technology way for the treatment of harmful gases in mining areas. The application innovation of photocatalytic oxidation technology and electrochemical technology in mining wastewater and waste treatment was studied to improve the wastewater treatment effect and resource recovery efficiency. These methods can be the research and development of new technologies, the improvement and optimization of existing technologies, or the integrated application of multiple technologies.
To gather further insights within ecological pollution control technologies applicable to mining regions, the topic will focus on cutting-edge developments and interdisciplinary solutions, incorporating fundamental research and practical applications. Contributions may address, but are not limited to, the following themes:
• Catalytic and biological treatments for harmful gas emissions
• Innovations in photocatalytic oxidation and electrochemical technologies for mining wastewater
• New strategies for waste treatment and resource recovery
• Cross-disciplinary approaches integrating various pollution control technologies
• Bioprocesses dedicated to bioleaching, their optimization, scaling, and process control methods
