Background

Climate change poses significant risks to global health, influencing the spread of infectious diseases, food and water security, and exacerbating chronic health conditions. As these environmental changes accelerate, there is an urgent need to incorporate climate change education into the health promotion and education sectors. This integration is crucial for preparing healthcare professionals and the public to respond effectively to the health challenges posed by a changing climate.

This Research Topic aims to evaluate and expand the ways in which climate change is addressed within health education and health promotion frameworks. The primary focus is to develop educational strategies and health promotion interventions that are responsive to the health impacts of climate change. Contributions are expected to present innovative educational tools, curricula designs, and health promotion campaigns that can equip both health professionals and the public with the knowledge and skills to mitigate health-related climate challenges:

Curriculum Development: Designing and implementing climate change-focused curricula in medical and health education settings.

Public Health Campaigns: Evaluating the effectiveness of health promotion campaigns that incorporate climate change awareness and action.

Community Engagement: Strategies for enhancing community resilience through education about the health impacts of climate change.

Professional Training: Developing training programs for health professionals on climate health issues, emergency preparedness, and sustainability practices in healthcare.

Policy and Advocacy: Exploring the role of health educators and promoters in influencing public and policy engagement with climate health issues.
