We are pleased to announce the launch of a Research Topic in association with the 35th Symposium on Computer Aided Process Engineering (Escape|35), which will take place in Ghent, Belgium, from July 6-9, 2025.
This conference promises to be an outstanding platform for researchers from academia and industry to connect, share knowledge, and explore the latest advancements in Computer Aided Process Engineering. The 2025 conference theme “Closing the loop 2.0” emphasises on use of Process Systems Engineering (PSE, from “good old feedback control” to advanced methodologies using AI, quantum computing, etc.) to accelerate the drive towards a circular economy with applications in energy, life sciences, and materials domains. The program will feature presentations by leading experts through three plenary sessions, workshops, poster sessions and more.
This Research Topic aims to compile a collection of high-quality articles showcasing cutting-edge research in various aspects of Process Systems Engineering. Contributions are welcome across a broad spectrum of topics, including (but not limited to):
• Modelling and Simulation.
• Sustainable Product Development and Process Design.
• Large Scale Design and Planning/ Scheduling.
• Model Based optimisation and advanced Control.
• Concepts, Methods and Tools.
• Digitalization and AI.
• CAPEing with Societal Challenges.
• CAPE Education and Knowledge Transfer.
• PSE4Food and Biochemical.
• PSE4BioMedical and (Bio)Pharma.
This Research Topic is an invite only collection, please only submit if you’ve been contacted by a member of the editorial team or conference organiser. The editorial team welcomes the following article types: original research, reviews or perspectives.
We look forward to your valuable contributions and to highlighting the collective achievements of the global Computer Aided Process Engineering community.
