Biogeoscience Chief Editor is the Recipient of the 2021 R. Berner Lectureship

Dr. Alexandra Turchyn We are honored to announce that Dr. Alexandra (Sasha) Turchyn, Co-Chief Editor of the Biogeoscience section of Frontiers in Earth Science is a recipient of the 2021 R. Berner Lectureship for her important contributions in the field of global geochemical cycles.  Recipients of this Lectureship are selected for their ‘exceptional ability to define globally important biogeochemical processes, develop new understandings, and significantly advance the corresponding area of research.’ Dr. Turchyn was presented the lectureship at the Goldschmidt 2021 conference, where she gave a Keynote Lecture on the topic of ‘Exploring the biogeochemical sulfur cycle over the past 150 million years’.  Dr. Turchyn graduated from Harvard University in 2005, and is currently a Reader in Biogeochemistry at the University of Cambridge. Her present research field includes understanding how the ocean’s chemistry has changed over time. It focuses on how interrelated biogeochemical cycles have responded to changes in climate on earth. Frontiers forms open access publishing agreement with the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR)

Under the terms of Luxembourg’s new national publishing agreement with Frontiers, the Luxembourg National Research Fund will cover Article Processing Charges (APCs) for eligible articles centrally for their eligible authors, benefitting from a 7.5% membership discount per this agreement. For more information on Luxembourg’s national publishing agreement with Frontiers, please see the announcements by the National Library of Luxembourg (BNL) and Frontiers. Information for authors: Authors should submit their FNR-funded manuscripts through ChronosHub to have the eligible APC amount directly paid by the FNR. Please ensure that your FNR funding, including the grant number, is included both in the Funding statement during submission and in the manuscript text. As part of this support, LIH will cover Article Processing Charges (APCs) for eligible articles centrally for their eligible authors. Furthermore, LIH will benefit from a 7.5% membership discount under the terms of Luxembourg’s new national publishing agreement with Frontiers. Eligible authors are corresponding authors affiliated with the Luxembourg Institute of Health. Information for authors: To submit your article under this institutional agreement, please select “Luxembourg Institute of Health” as institutional payer in the invoice section when submitting your article. Frontiers will then verify your eligibility with LIH, and if confirmed, the APC (minus the discount) will be paid by the Luxembourg Institute of Health upon acceptance. Luxembourg and Frontiers strike national Open Access publishing agreement

Luxembourg’s research community has strengthened its commitment to Open Access through a new national publishing agreement, announced this week. The Bibliothèque Nationale du Luxembourg, the country’s national library, and the open access publisher Frontiers have reached a three-year publishing deal that will run until February 2024. Managed by the Consortium Luxembourg national library service, participating organizations include: the Bibliothèque Nationale du Luxembourg, the Luxembourg Institute of Health, and the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology, as well as the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR), making it the first publisher agreement to include the main funder in Luxembourg. This is also the first deal between a national consortium and Frontiers with an annual payment structure, a model designed to help streamline and simplify operations. Eligible authors from participating institutions now benefit from reduced administration when they publish in any one of Frontiers’ portfolio of 116 open access journals at no cost to themselves. Frontiers, the Consortium and FNR will now directly manage tasks such as making payments and managing communications. Organizations benefit from online tools for eligibility verification, transparent and comprehensive reporting on expenditures, a dedicated account support manager, and publishing fee discounts. University of Colorado Boulder and Frontiers form open access publishing agreement

We are delighted to announce that the University of Colorado Boulder (CU Boulder) has established an institutional membership agreement for open access publishing with Frontiers.  The University of Colorado Boulder supports its researchers in making their research more widely available. As part of this support, the University of Colorado Boulder Libraries have entered an institutional agreement with Frontiers. Under the terms of this agreement, eligible authors from CU Boulder may publish in any Frontiers journal at no cost to the author.  To be eligible, a publication’s corresponding author must be affiliated with the University of Colorado Boulder.   Eligible authors will benefit from a streamlined invoicing process, managed directly between Frontiers and the University of Colorado Boulder Libraries, relieving authors of the responsibility of payment. Furthermore, the University of Colorado Boulder Libraries will benefit from a membership discount on processing charges for articles covered by this agreement.  This agreement will further encourage CU Boulder authors to publish open access, enabling broader access to the results of mostly publicly funded research, while at the same time reducing overall costs.  Information for authors:  To submit your article under this institutional agreement, please select “University of Colorado Boulder” as institutional payer in the invoice section when submitting your article.
