Frontiers and Leuphana University of Lüneburg form open access publishing agreement

We are delighted to announce that Leuphana University of Lüneburg (Leuphana Universität Lüneburg) has established an institutional membership agreement for open access publishing with Frontiers. The University Library of Leuphana University of Lüneburg supports its researchers in making their research more widely available. As part of this support, Leuphana University of Lüneburg has entered an institutional agreement with Frontiers. Under the terms of this agreement, eligible authors from Leuphana University of Lüneburg may publish in any Frontiers journal at no cost to them and with a simplified process. Eligible authors will benefit from a streamlined invoicing process, managed directly between Frontiers and the Open Access team at the Library of the Leuphana University of Lüneburg, relieving authors of the responsibility of payment. Furthermore, Leuphana University of Lüneburg and its Library will benefit from a discount on Article Processing Charges (APCs) for articles covered by this agreement. This agreement will further encourage Leuphana University of Lüneburg authors to publish open access, increasing uptake of open access to the results of mostly publicly funded research, to the benefit of the scholarly community and the public at large, while reducing costs. The JISC UK National Open Access Agreement with Frontiers – Two Years in.

In 2019, Frontiers signed a three year national open access agreement in the UK with JISC Collections.  Thanks to this landmark deal, UK universities now benefit from a simplified and streamlined route to open access publishing for researchers in the UK. As we approach the second anniversary of the agreement, we are pleased to announce an overwhelmingly positive response from UK universities.  More than half of all UK articles published by Frontiers come from the growing number of universities participating in this agreement (see list below).  UK universities and its researchers benefit from the advantages of publishing in open access, which include global immediate and unrestricted reading access and permanent open archiving. Other benefits of joining the agreement include: A 10% discount on the publication costs (APCs),Authors are relieved from responsibilities of payment and invoicing,Three central invoicing options for institutions to choose from,Institutions determine which articles are eligible to be paid for centrally,Institutions are supported by dedicated account managers. Boost for Open Access in Asia as Frontiers and Taiwan’s NHRI seal deal

Frontiers announces its first open-access agreement with Asian institution One of Taiwan’s leading medical research institutions, the National Health Research Institutes (NHRI), and the open-access publisher Frontiers have today announced a publishing deal effective as of August 2021. Established in 1995, NHRI is one of Asia’s leading medical research and healthcare institutions. It focuses on fields including aging, cancer, infectious diseases and vaccine research, genomic medicine, biomedical engineering, biotechnology and drug discovery, environmental and occupational health, population health, and health policy. The agreement, the first of its type in Asia for Frontiers, means that article processing charges (APCs) for articles by eligible NHRI authors in any Frontiers journal (currently 126) will be processed centrally via the NHRI library. Furthermore, NHRI and its authors will benefit from a 5% membership discount on processing charges for articles covered by this agreement. Under the terms of the deal, articles will be published under the CC-BY license and will be immediately and completely free to read. APCs will be processed through a centralized monthly billing mechanism to further reduce administrative costs and the workload for NHRI and its authors. IBMS to transition leading biomedical journal to Gold Open Access

BJBS is the biomedical profession’s leading scientific journal; featuring peer-reviewed papers and reports on the latest scientific advances and laboratory techniques. The journal will transfer from the publisher Taylor & Francis to Frontiers from January 1, 2022, in coordination with the journal’s 20th anniversary of publication. For more than 100 years the IBMS has been dedicated to the promotion, development, and delivery of excellence in biomedical science within all aspects of healthcare, and to providing the highest standards of service to patients and the public. With over 21,000 members in 74 countries, the IBMS is the leading professional body for scientists, support staff, and students in the field of biomedical science.
