Durham University has joined the Frontiers – JISC national open access deal

We are delighted to announce that Durham University has joined the national open access deal agreed between Jisc Collections and Frontiers. Durham University supports its researchers in making their research more widely available. As part of this support, Durham University Library has entered into a discount agreement with Frontiers. Under the terms of this agreement, eligible authors from Durham may publish in any Frontiers journal and there will be a 10% discount to the cost of the APC – only where the remainder of the fee is to be covered by either the UKRI Open Access Grant Award or the Wellcome Trust Open Access Grant Award. The benefit to you, as an author, is a simplified process for indicating who will make the payment for your invoice and ensuring that the invoice is sent to the Open Access Team. Eligible authors are: Authors who have already confirmed with the Durham Open Access Team that existing UKRI or Wellcome open access funding is available to them to cover the remaining costs of the APC. Queen Mary University of London has joined the Frontiers – JISC national open access deal.

We are delighted to announce that Queen Mary University of London has joined the national open access deal agreed between Jisc Collections and Frontiers.  This landmark deal provides a simplified and streamlined route to open access publishing for researchers in the UK, who publish 7% of the world’s research. Queen Mary University of London supports its researchers in making their research more widely available.  As part of this deal, eligible authors may publish in any Frontiers journal at no cost to them and with a simplified process. Eligible authors will benefit from a streamlined invoicing process, relieving authors of the responsibility of payment. Furthermore, Queen Mary University of London will benefit from a discount on Article Processing Charges (APCs) for articles covered by this agreement. This agreement will further encourage Queen Mary University of London authors to publish open access, increasing uptake of open access to the results of mostly publicly funded research, to the benefit of the scholarly community and the public at large, while reducing costs. Frontiers and the Vestre Viken Hospital Trust form open access publishing agreement

The Vestre Viken Hospital Trust (Vestre Viken HF) supports their authors in publishing open access. As part of this support, the Vestre Viken will cover Article Processing Charges (APCs) for eligible articles centrally for their eligible authors. Furthermore, the Vestre Viken will benefit from a 10% membership discount under the terms of the UNIT Open Access Publishing Framework Agreement. Eligible authors are corresponding authors affiliated with the Vestre Viken Hospital Trust. Information for authors: To submit your article under this agreement, please select ‘Vestre Viken Hospital Trust’ as the payer in the invoice section when submitting your article. Frontiers will then verify your eligibility with the Library, and if confirmed, the APC (minus the discount) will be paid by the Vestre Viken upon acceptance. Article rejection: Review of the Emerging Evidence Demonstrating the Efficacy of Ivermectin in the Prophylaxis and Treatment of COVID-19. Dr. Frederick Fenter, Chief Executive Editor of Frontiers: “Regardless of the publication stage or subject of a manuscript, if the integrity of an article is called into question, our policy is to investigate. Upon further scrutiny by our Research Integrity team about the objectivity of this paper during the provisional acceptance phase, it was revealed that the article made a series of strong, unsupported claims based on studies with insufficient statistical significance, and at times, without the use of control groups. Further, the authors promoted their own specific ivermectin-based treatment which is inappropriate for a review article and against our editorial policies. “In our view, this paper does not offer an objective nor balanced scientific contribution to the evaluation of ivermectin as a potential treatment for COVID-19. Frontiers’ has published more than 2,000 rigorously peer-reviewed articles on COVID-19 since the pandemic erupted via our Coronavirus Knowledge Hub, and we are acutely aware of just how critical high-quality, objective research in this area is at this time. The Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI) supports their authors in publishing open access. As part of this support, the NGI will cover Article Processing Charges (APCs) for eligible articles centrally for their eligible authors. Furthermore, the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute will benefit from a 10% membership discount under the terms of the UNIT Open Access Publishing Framework Agreement. Authors in receipt of a grant from any of the UKRI research councils will benefit from a streamlined invoicing process, relieving authors of the responsibility of payment.
