Background: Tai Chi Chuan (TCC) has achieved global recognition and was inscribed 4 on the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 5 2022. However, a significant gap remains in research examining the correlates of TCC 6 participation. This study aims to address this gap by analyzing data from a sample of adult 7 TCC practitioners in urban parks in Zhengzhou City. 8 Methods: This study collected data from 998 Chinese adults practicing TCC in public 9 parks in Zhengzhou City, Henan Province, using face-to-face questionnaire interviews. 10 Data analysis involved descriptive statistics, univariate analysis, and backward stepwise 11 ordinal regression modeling. 12 Results: Twelve independent variables were found to be significantly associated with the 13 frequency of TCC participation: age, mental problems, health problems, investment, 14 alternate spaces, distance, awards, health motivation, partners, gender, nature of 15 labor, and migration. The remaining variables showed no significant association with 16 participation frequency. 17 Conclusion: This study identified key determinants influencing the frequency of TCC 18 participation among Chinese adults. The research findings provide important evidence for 19 developing intervention strategies aimed at increasing participation frequency.
