Background

Healthcare has always been an important and permanent issue for human beings. In recent decades, Human rely increasingly on advanced finely-structured functional materials and sensing systems, which were fabricated based on state-of-the-art chemical or physical principles, to address grand challenges of diseases and to improve quality of life. These materials and sensing systems provide promising solutions to life health challenges in thermoregulation, intelligent drug sustained release, disease diagnosis/surveillance and noninvasive surgery. The corresponding derivative devices and products exhibit broad prospect of applications in enhancing feasibility and reducing the healthcare cost.

The proposed research topic on " Advanced Functional Materials/Structures/Devices for Advancing Human Healthcare Applications " explores the latest science and technology advancements in functional materials/structures/devices, which involve specific physical chemistry or chemical physics methods from microscopic to macroscopic scales, and their applications in human healthcare, highlighting their potential to precision medicine, human health protection/monitoring, disease diagnosis, and advanced therapeutics. The scope of this topic includes, but is not limited to advanced drug delivery material for precision medicine, state-of-the-art structures/microfluidics for active/passive thermoregulation, fundamental studies of novel synthesis/fabrication techniques of composites for biosensing, fabrication /theory of low-profile implantable sensors, functional materials or structures for noninvasive therapeutics, and clinical demonstration and validation of implantable systems. By collecting the cutting-edge research and technologies, we aim to promote the understanding of innovative chemical/physical-based strategies in life health applications.

This research topic will provide a platform to present a comprehensive view of the current pioneering research in the fields of materials, nanoscience, applied and biophysical chemistry, which will attract various scientists, engineers, biologists, clinicians and healthcare professionals to exchange ideas, share knowledge, and collaborate opportunities on advancing human healthcare.
