The oceans, teeming with marine life, emerge as a renewable and underexplored reservoir of nutrition. Marine bioactive compounds, ranging from polyunsaturated fatty acids and peptides to vitamins and minerals (e.g., astaxanthin, zeaxanthin, and lutein), foster a more sustainable and resilient food system by serving as a resource for precision nutrition strategies and dietary practices.
This Research Topic endeavors to comprehensively explore the rich reservoir of bioactive compounds found in marine environments. By delving into the molecular structure of these compounds, it aims to capitalize on the uniqueness of marine resources to advance Precision Nutrition. Furthermore, this Research Topic seeks to unravel the potential of marine foods to contribute to Sustainable Dietary Solutions. Through collaborative interdisciplinary research, we aim to catalyze transformative breakthroughs that not only deepen our understanding of marine bioactive compounds but also provide references for their strategic application in precision nutrition and the promotion of sustainable dietary practices.
We welcome contributions that encompass the following specific themes:
· Identification and characterization of novel bioactive compounds in marine organisms (e.g.,algae, including microalgae and seaweed).
· Innovative extraction techniques tailored for marine-derived bioactive compounds.
· Applications of precision nutrition utilizing marine bioactives for health and wellness.
Authors are encouraged to submit original research articles, reviews, and methodological papers. Manuscripts should provide insights into the molecular structures, extraction methodologies, and potential applications of marine bioactives. Additionally, studies elucidating the role of marine bioactives in precision nutrition and sustainable dietary practices are highly encouraged.
