Abstract
This study aims to reveal the opinions of social studies teachers and social studies teacher candidates in Turkey regarding speaking anxiety.The case study model, one of the qualitative research designs, was used in the study. The study group of the study consisted of 10 social studies teachers and 20 social studies teacher candidates. When determining the study group, the easily accessible sampling method from the purposeful sampling method was preferred. The data obtained in the study were transferred to a Microsoft Office Word file in a computer environment and converted into text, and the obtained data were subjected to content analysis with the coding method. When the reasons for speech anxiety were compared at the end of the study, social studies teachers focused on the answer of fear of not being able to express oneself, while social studies teacher candidates focused on the answer of feeling inadequate. When the behaviors that occur when speech anxiety is experienced are compared, social studies teachers and social studies teacher candidates focused on the answer of speech disorder.
